Installation – The Omnesia Remixes
The Omnesia Remixes
2013
For The Omnesia Remixes I borrowed the concept of the remix from contemporary music and applied it to poetry. Using the manuscript for W.N.Herbert’s latest poetry collection Omnesia as source material I composed and recorded four poems which stand alone as original literary artefacts while maintaining some connection to the original music and sentiment of Herbert’s work.
The piece was originally commissioned by Will Strong and Rosanna Skett for Reuse Aloud, a month-long broadcast of remixed works on Pixel Palace‘s digital radio station Basic FM. Two of the poems from the remixes were also animated and projected on the side of a building at the Newcastle Centre for the Literary Arts as part of the ongoing public text installation Lit.
