This site was set up by a group of writers in Newcastle (UK) who wanted to highlight the value of libraries following the announcement by Newcastle City Council of plans to cut 10 of the city’s 18 public libraries.

Submissions to the site ( ) are open. We will endeavor to publish content that is consistent with the following guidelines:

1. We will accept creative work in any form which responds to the theme of libraries.

2. All submissions must be 400 words or less.

3. The work must be your own and you must have permission to publish it.

4. Copyright of the work will remain with you but by submitting your writing you grant Writers for Libraries permission to publish it on this site and in any future print or electronic publication.

5. Work may be lightly edited to correct obvious mistakes.
